It wasn’t the first time Jones faces a dash for the checkered flag off a restart.
“If I remember the first time, I was pretty upset,” he told media members, “and this time I was pretty calm and collected and wasn’t too worried about it. I knew we had a good car and knew that as long as we got a decent restart, we would be able to hold it off. Enough guys stayed out on old tires with us that we were in a good spot and it all worked out.”
Of the full-time Sprint Cup drivers in the field, Joey Logano was top finisher in seventh place. Sunday’s Cup race, the AAA 400, begins about 1 p.m. ET at Dover.
The Xfinity Series takes next week off while NASCAR is at Charlotte for All-Star Race weekend. The next race is May 28.
