After solving the introductory puzzle set by the Headmaster, the entrance exam requires several more steps to seek a way out. She says that memory-erasing gas will start filling the room, which prompts the 15-minute time limit. Unlocking the metal door requires learning the Headmaster’s full name through various clues, with each name hidden in different ways.

How to Find the Headmaster’s Surname

Each aspect of this escape the room test can be tackled at any time, but it is quickest to start with locating the surname first. From the start point, examine the bag and coat hanging up nearby the big red door to get a key.

This key can be used to open the Headmaster’s desk drawer, which is sealed by a padlock. Inside is a screwdriver, which can unscrew all the vent bolts to allow access into the crawl space.

Once inside, players can crawl to the other end to find a maintenance phone number from Jeb the groundskeeper, along with a view of the Headmaster watching the player’s progress. Head back to the office and type this number into the phone on the desk to receive a call from Jeb, who will mention the Headmaster’s surname “SOLANGE”.

How to Unlock the Secret Office

As is expected of intricate puzzle rooms, there is a secret room hidden behind a bookcase with books listing countries of the world. In order to open it, the conspicuous suitcase on the desk needs to be opened.

The top of the suitcase has symbols of a clock, plant pot, and trophies. The number of each respective item in the room corresponds to the lock combination. Several receipts can be found around the room to assist the counting if need be, but the full numbered list is as follows: 2 clocks, 5 plants, 3 clocks.

After putting 253 into the combination code, there are three photos inside the suitcase that can be grabbed. Each shows the Headmaster in a different country at a different year. Putting them in chronological order will reveal the 3 books that need to be pushed on the bookshelf, and in what order.

Inspect the bookshelf and press the books Egypt, Japan, and Greece. This will open the secret room and allow for the next name to be found.

Finding the Headmaster’s First and Middle Names

Before entering the secret office, players should pick up the floppy disk if they haven’t already in order to activate the computer. Once the disk is inserted, the word DEAD will appear on the screen, a seemingly ominous hint for the next step.

Heading over to the piano keyboard, some keys have been labeled with their respective musical note. This is where the previous clue is used: press the keys D E A D in that order to trigger an item unlock.

A UV lightbulb will be revealed, which can be picked up and put in the nearby alcove with one of the Headmaster’s diplomas. This UV lightbulb shines up the invisible name, which makes up the second part of the code.

The first name requires a bit of logical reasoning based on the additional group photo containing some of the Escape Academy cast. Logic dictates that not everyone can be the headmaster due to their distinctly male appearance, but heading in the secret office should provide the final hint.

Mounted on the wall of the secret office over the fireplace is a large fox decoration, which naturally belongs to the headmaster. Examining the group photo shows only one person wearing a fox mask: Sandy.

Putting all three names together reveals the Headmaster’s full name, which is the clue needed to unlock the door. Go to the wall-mounted machine and move along the options until the names match the clues found earlier.

Pressing the unlock button will complete the room, and the Headmaster will congratulate you on your performance. As always, yet more puzzles lie in wait along with more faculty members, so there are more escape rooms to get stuck into at the Escape Academy.

Escape Academy is now available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
