When The Ascent released back in July 2021, it was able to capitalize on the hype that Cyberpunk 2077 had brought along with it. Many gamers were disappointed with Cyberpunk 2077 as they felt that the game did not deliver on the hype. This may have driven many gamers to find another cyberpunk experience to satisfy their craving and, luckily, in many ways The Ascent delivered.

Up until now only Xbox and PC gamers were able to satisfy their cyberpunk craving outside of Cyberpunk 2077 but this does not seem to be the case for all that much longer. When The Ascent released, there were no plans in the works for a PlayStation version of the game. However, the game’s ESRB rating page has recently been updated to include both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Although there has been no official announcement as yet it seems as though one will be imminent.
While The Ascent was well received it was not without its issues. The Ascent had multiple technical issues on both the PC and Xbox versions of the game. These issues related to connectivity as the game can also be played co-op and many players had problems attempting to play with their friends online. On PC the game also suffered from performance issues that caused even the highest-end PCs to experience extreme stuttering issues. These issues have since been patched but it would be wise for the developer, Neon Giant to make sure that these problems do not persist with the PlayStation versions of the game.
The Ascent is a good buy for any fans of the cyberpunk genre, especially for those who play on PlayStation and were not able to experience the game when it first launched. While The Ascent is an enjoyable experience, it is advised that players do some research on the title. For example, The Ascent has a relatively steep learning curve for new players that can punish new players if they aren’t sure what they are getting into. Any PlayStation gamers that are interested in the title should keep their eye on the game’s social media pages for updates or possible announcements for PlayStation versions of the game.
The Ascent is available now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
